Dorothy was born in Eastport, Maine, surrounded by the beauty of living on the coast. Living there all of her "growing up" years, she only left for a short time after graduating from high school, to further her education. After marrying her childhood sweetheart, they returned to Eastport and started a family.
She enjoyed drawing all of her life and when time permitted, started taking some art classes in the evening during the 1970s. Over the years, she tried her hand at painting off and on and took more classes whenever she had time. Once her three children were grown and on their own, she started painting more seriously.
Now painting full time, she has a studio and a gallery at her home in Perry. Painting mostly in oils now, she specializes in seascapes, landscapes, florals and portraiture. She still enjoys taking classes, knowing you are never too old to learn.
Some of her works can be seen in Eastport at the Quoddy Arts and Crafts Shop, Raye's Mustard Mill Gift Shop, The Quoddy Tides Gift Shop, and in Robbinston at Katie's on the Cove. Her own gallery and shop, Sunset Cove Originals, is open by appointment only in Perry.
