“PUMPING THE CATCH” is the fourth painting in a series about purse seining herring.

This painting shows the crew of the Burton G looking over the net full of herring as they bring in the seine to “dry up” the fish. As this is done, the fish are being pumped aboard the carrier, Miss Krystal, which will take them to the sardine packing plant.
